Terms of use

Last updated 7 September 2026. Purchases made through the App Store are also governed by Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement.

Welcome to Luuqad. By downloading the app or using luuqad.com you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the service. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian must agree on your behalf, and we expect accounts to be created and managed by adults.

1. The service

Luuqad is a Somali language learning app for children and families: lessons with pictures and native-speaker audio, quizzes, games, a learning path, a leaderboard and a free online dictionary at luuqad.com. We add, change and occasionally remove content and features to improve the app.

2. Accounts

You need an account to save progress and appear on the leaderboard. Keep your sign-in details private and tell us if you think someone else is using your account. Choose a display name you are happy for other learners to see. We may suspend accounts that break these terms.

3. Free download, Premium subscription and trials

Downloading Luuqad is free. Luuqad Premium unlocks every lesson, quiz and game and costs $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year (prices may vary by country and are shown in the App Store before you buy). Eligible Apple subscribers can start with a 3-day free trial (eligible Apple subscribers). Subscriptions renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the trial or current period. Manage or cancel in your Apple ID settings. Refunds are handled by Apple under its policies. The leaderboard, profile, settings and support are available without a subscription.

4. Content and intellectual property

The lessons, recordings, illustrations, games, text and design of Luuqad belong to Luuqad or its licensors. You may use them for personal, non-commercial learning, including in a family or a classroom. You may not copy, redistribute, sell or use the recordings and illustrations to build another product without written permission. Somali words themselves belong to everyone; our recordings and artwork of them do not.

5. Acceptable use

Do not attempt to break into our systems, interfere with other learners, cheat the leaderboard, or use the app for anything unlawful. Display names and profile pictures must be appropriate for children to see; we may remove any that are not.

6. Your feedback

If you send us suggestions, corrections or other feedback, you allow us to use it to improve Luuqad without owing you anything, though we are grateful and will often say thank you in the app's release notes.

7. Accuracy

We work hard to make the Somali in Luuqad correct, with native speakers recording and reviewing every word, and we note regional differences where they matter. Languages vary between families and regions, so if something differs from the way your family speaks, tell us. The app and website are provided "as is", and we do not guarantee that they are error-free or always available.

8. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, Luuqad is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from use of, or inability to use, the app or website. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Termination

You can delete your account at any time from the Grown-ups area or by emailing us. We may suspend or end access for accounts that break these terms. Sections 4, 7 and 8 survive termination.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the service changes. The date at the top shows the current version; continued use after a change means you accept it. Material changes will be announced in the app.

11. Governing law and contact

These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which Luuqad is established, without affecting your consumer rights under local law. Questions: support@luuqad.com. Our privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
