ma-HAAD RAB-ta
Asking topic in the Luuqad app

Meaning

Maxaad rabta? means what do you want?. Maxaad is maxaa (what) joined to aad (you), and rabta means you want, so the question is what do you want? It is direct, the way a parent or a shopkeeper asks it; to soften it add fadlan, or ask Maxaan kuu qaban karaa? (what can I do for you?). Answer with Waxaan rabaa plus the thing: Waxaan rabaa biyo, I want water. The verb is rab, and the fuller form rabtaa is also used.
