Meaning

Dheel means dance; it is the command to one child. The plural command is dheela, and I am dancing is waan dheelayaa. In some regions dheel is also used for playing, and ciyaar, the word for play, is used for dancing too, so the two overlap at parties and weddings.

Tip: Dheel starts with dh, one sound: the tongue tip curls back for the d.

Example sentences

Waan dheelayaa.I am dancing.

Using Dheel at home

Point at the real thing and say "Dheel" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Dheel is taught with a picture, tested in the Activities quiz.
