Orod

Run

O-rod · Two short o sounds, with a rolled r between them.
Orod (Run): illustration from the Luuqad Activities lesson

Meaning

Orod means run. The form the app teaches is the command to one child: orod, run. To tell more than one child, say orda. I am running is waan ordayaa, and running as an activity is also called orod.

Tip: Notice the vowel drop: orod becomes ord- in waan ordayaa.

Example sentences

Orod!Run!
Waan ordayaa.I am running.

Using Orod at home

Point at the real thing and say "Orod" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Orod is taught with a picture, tested in the Activities quiz.
