Meaning

Bisad is the cat, one of the two household animals in the lesson. Cats are welcome around Somali homes, and the word is one children use a lot. Bisad is feminine: the cat is bisadda and the plural is bisado.

Tip: Some families say mukulaal instead of bisad; both mean cat.

Example sentences

Tani waa bisad. This is a cat.
Waxaan jeclahay bisadaha.I like cats.

Using Bisad at home

Point at the real thing and say "Bisad" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Bisad is taught with a picture, tested in the Animals quiz and practised in Baadiyo Journey and Animal Trails.
