Meaning

Shimbir is the bird, any bird. Somali has separate names for many birds, but shimbir is the word to start with. It is feminine: the bird is shimbirta and the plural is shimbiro.

Tip: Shimbir is feminine, so it takes -ta: shimbirta, the bird.
