BAS
Bas (Bus): illustration from the Luuqad City lesson

Meaning

Bas means bus, a borrowed word that sounds almost the same as in English. It is a masculine noun, baska, and the plural is basas. The bus stop and the school bus give diaspora children plenty of chances to use it.

Example sentences

Baska waa kaas. There is the bus.
Baska ayaan raacay.I took the bus.

Using Bas at home

Point at the real thing and say "Bas" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Bas is taught with a picture, tested in the City quiz and practised in Baadiyo Journey.
