Meaning

Akhri means read; it is the command to one child. The plural command is akhriya, and I am reading is waan akhrinayaa. The word comes from the Arabic verb for reading, and children hear it in dugsi as well as at home: buugga akhri, read the book.

Tip: Akhris is reading as an activity, and akhriste is a reader.

Example sentences

Buugga akhri.Read the book.
Waan akhrinayaa.I am reading.

Using Akhri at home

Point at the real thing and say "Akhri" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Akhri is taught with a picture, tested in the Activities quiz.
