Eedo (Aunt (father's sister)): illustration from the Luuqad Family lesson

Meaning

Eedo means aunt on your father's side: your father's sister. Like adeer, it is also a respectful way to address any woman of your parents' generation, so shopkeepers and neighbours may be eedo too. Eedaday is my aunt.

Example sentences

Eedaday waa macalin. My aunt is a teacher.
Eedo, iska warran?Aunt, how are you?

Using Eedo at home

Point at the real thing and say "Eedo" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Eedo is taught with a picture, tested in the Family quiz and practised in Word Match.
