Meaning

Far is a finger. It is feminine: the finger is farta and the plural is faro, so the fingers is faraha. The same word means writing or script, which is why the Somali alphabet is called far Soomaali.

Tip: Toes are faraha cagta, the fingers of the foot.

Example sentences

Faraha tiri.Count your fingers.
Farta ayaa i xanuunaysa. My finger hurts.

Using Far at home

Point at the real thing and say "Far" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Far is taught with a picture, tested in the Face & Body quiz and practised in Drag & Learn.
