Meaning

Cabsi is a noun meaning fear. The app glosses it as scared because it is the word children reach for when they are frightened. To say I am afraid, use the verb: waan cabsanayaa; or say cabsi baa i haysa, fear has me. The comforting reply is ha cabsan, do not be afraid.

Tip: Ha cabsan (do not be afraid) is what a parent says at the top of the slide.

Example sentences

Waan cabsanayaa.I am afraid.
Cabsi baa i haysa.I am scared (fear has me).

Using Cabsi at home

Point at the real thing and say "Cabsi" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Cabsi is taught with a picture, tested in the Emotions quiz and practised in Tap the Word.
