Meaning

Farxad is a noun meaning joy or great happiness, the feeling of a child the night before Eid, which is why the app uses it for excited. Faraxsan, happy, is the adjective from the same root. Dareen sare, literally a high feeling, is a second way to describe excitement. To say you are excited, aad baan u faraxsanahay, I am very happy, is the everyday choice.

Tip: Farxad is the feeling, faraxsan is the person: farxad (joy), waan faraxsanahay (I am happy).

Example sentences

Farxad badan baan dareemayaa.I feel great joy.
Maanta waa maalin farxad leh.Today is a joyful day.

Using Farxad at home

Point at the real thing and say "Farxad" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Farxad is taught with a picture, tested in the Emotions quiz and practised in Tap the Word.

Also heard: Dareen sare. Families use different forms depending on region and generation; the app records the form shown above.
