Meaning

Talaagad is the refrigerator. It is feminine: the fridge is talaagadda, and the plural is talaagado. You will also see it spelled talaajad, and in more formal Somali a fridge can be called qaboojiye, from qabow, cold.

Tip: Qaboojiye, the formal word for fridge, is built on qabow, the word for cold in the Weather topic.

Example sentences

Caanaha talaagadda geli.Put the milk in the fridge.
Talaagadda xir.Close the fridge.

Using Talaagad at home

Point at the real thing and say "Talaagad" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once. In the Luuqad app, Talaagad is taught with a picture, tested in the House quiz and practised in Heritage Hunt and Drag & Learn.
