Meaning

Qorrax Leh means sunny. Literally it is "having sun": qorrax is the sun and leh means having or with. Somali builds several weather words this way, so once your child knows qorrax leh, roob leh (rainy) and daruur leh (cloudy) follow the same pattern. It is the usual answer when someone asks what the weather is like.

Tip: Think of leh as "with": qorrax leh is "with sun", roob leh is "with rain".

Example sentences

Maanta waa qorrax leh.Today is sunny.
Waa maalin qorrax leh.It is a sunny day.

Using Qorrax Leh at home

Point at the real thing and say "Qorrax Leh" whenever it comes up, then let your child hear the native recording and say it back. One word used ten times in a day beats ten words drilled once.
